AKTU SGPA, CGPA and percentage calculator

Work out your semester SGPA from your grades, your overall CGPA from all semesters, and convert CGPA to percentage using AKTU's ordinance formula.

AKTU's letter grades have changed between batches. Pick the scheme whose letters match your marksheet.

SGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits. Subjects with 0 credits (like some audit courses) don't count.

How AKTU calculates SGPA, CGPA and percentage

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average)

Multiply each subject's credits by the grade points you got, add them up, and divide by the total credits for that semester.

Example: 4-credit subject with 8 points, 3-credit with 9, and 3-credit with 7: (4×8 + 3×9 + 3×7) ÷ 10 = 80 ÷ 10 = 8.0 SGPA.

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average)

CGPA is the credit-weighted average of all your semesters: Σ(SGPA × semester credits) ÷ Σ semester credits. If your semesters had similar credits, a simple average of SGPAs comes very close.

CGPA to percentage

AKTU's B.Tech ordinance gives the conversion as Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. Some companies and job forms use CGPA × 10 instead, so read what the form asks for.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate SGPA in AKTU?
Multiply each subject's credits by its grade points, add them up, and divide by the total credits. The SGPA tab does this for you.

What CGPA is 60% in AKTU?
Using AKTU's formula, 60% is a CGPA of 6.75, because (6.75 − 0.75) × 10 = 60.

How do I convert AKTU CGPA to percentage?
Subtract 0.75 from your CGPA and multiply by 10. For example, 8.2 CGPA = (8.2 − 0.75) × 10 = 74.5%.

What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA is your result for one semester. CGPA is the combined average of all semesters so far.

Is AKTU CGPA a simple average of SGPAs?
Not exactly. It's weighted by each semester's credits. If you enter credits in the CGPA tab, the calculator weights them the same way.
